The background in the border with the circles uses Best Beige.  I also outlined the cat to create a better separation of motif and border.

This rug has a more primitive look.  I hooked a few rows around each scallop and horse.  I then divided up the remaining area into blocks and hooked each area individually.  I used straight lines to contrast against the dots on the horse and the scallops.

I hooked small, quarter-sized circles with varying wool.  Each circle was hooked completely with one wool then filled in with whatever I picked up.  I first hooked a full row around the scallop border and horse.
